Eric Pratt is an incredibly talented musician and teacher. His professionalism, commitment to his students, and ability to tailor lessons and objectives to their individual needs are noteworthy. Eric started teaching my son classical guitar when he was 9 years old (Eric was his third instructor in three years). Over the following ten years, my son developed an interest in writing and producing music, ultimately extending his lesson time to include music production with Eric. Eric’s encouragement and ability to discover my son’s personal talents lead to him to a Music Engineering Technology major in college. Above all, Eric is an amazing role model. I’m so grateful that my son had such a positive influence in life from elementary school through college age.

My son has been studying classical guitar with Eric for ten years. Eric’s meticulous approach to technique and repertoire has taken my son on a journey earning many awards through national exams, national competitions to composing and applying himself to numerous forms of coding music technology. In the advanced stages, Eric has arranged lessons with master teachers from all over the U.S. over Zoom. Eric is a fantastic compassionate teacher who goes out of his way taking strides in helping my son through the college application process.

We were referred to Eric by a friend after a year of lessons with a teacher wasn’t a good fit for my six years twin boys. We met with Eric and right away I can tell he was the one. He tested them and identified that they both have perfect pitch which we had no idea what it was at the time. Eric really knows how to interact with kids and incorporate games into the lessons to make the lesson fun and keep my sons engaged. Within a couple of months, my boys progressed more than they had in a year, - I was amazed! My boys love their guitar lessons with Eric and look forward to each lesson every week. Eric is the best guitar teacher and I’m not exaggerating. Many of Eric’s students have gone on to win guitar competitions. My boys recently entered The 2021 Musical Arts Competition and won 1st place in two categories; solo and duet. Try a couple lessons with him and you will see for yourself. Highly recommended

My 8 year old has been with Eric for over 2 years now. Eric has always put out a very good vibe/aura of himself and I picked up on it immediately. He’s a great person and talks to the children with a lot of respect and understanding. My kid really loves him and has learned a great deal from him. I see all the other kids that go to Eric and they all seem very excited to see him.

During the pandemic, Eric figured out a way to teach remotely and, even though it’s not ideal, my kid really loved it. We even took time out to meet him in the Park during the pandemic, so that they could say hi to each other.

I highly recommend Santa Monica Guitar Lessons, not only for the professionalism and how great a teacher Eric is, but also because of who Eric is.

Eric has been an excellent guitar teacher for our son. He has provided weekly lessons for the last four years and our son has developed into a fairly sophisticated player of both acoustic and electric guitar. Eric has a very good temperament with teens and pre-teens and is very flexible in finding pieces to work on with students. If a parent has a guitar song that he wants the child to learn and finds the sheet music on the internet, Eric will happily teach the student that song. Eric has periodic recitals where my son plays and you can see the wide range of levels from very junior to very accomplished.

My daughter has been working with Eric for more than 4 years, since she was only 5 years old! Attentive and patient, Eric meets his students at their level, encouraging them in their learning of both the fundamentals of music and the specifics of classical guitar. I highly recommended Eric to other parents because my daughter has learned not only to play the guitar but to love music.
